Required Orientation for On-Campus PhD Students

Tuesday, August 15
PhD Orientation | 8:30am – 1:30pm | 614 E. Daniel St., 4th Floor Multipurpose Room
Formal introduction to the program.

Orientation Session Schedule:
8:30am – Breakfast (Food provided)
9:00am – Welcome
9:15am – Student introductions
Each student will get 1 minute. Please come prepared to share your preferred name, your advisor, your research interest, and a favorite hobby.
9:45am – PhD Program Overview
10:30am – Break
10:45am – Student Panel
11:30am – Student/Faculty Advisor(s) Breakouts
12:00pm – Lunch (Food provided) 5th Floor Multipurpose Room

Friday, August 18
PhD Networking Event
3:00pm – 4:30pm | 614 E. Daniel St., 5th Floor Multipurpose Room
Join current and new PhD students for an informal get-together to network with other students in the program. Refreshments will be provided.

Come to this event and learn about the iSchool’s student groups and how to join! There will also be booths for resources for students.

Wednesday, August 30
PhD & Faculty Networking Event
4:00pm – 5:30pm | 614 E. Daniel St., 5th Floor Multipurpose Room
Mingle with iSchool faculty and graduate students the second week of the semester! Get to know the others in your program and the faculty who will be with you throughout the program.

Complete asynchronous pre-work before live sessions begin on

Full day college teaching event with sessions.

Microteaching Option #1

August 21-September 11, Microteaching Option #2

Participants must choose one option or the other. Participants get to choose a Microteaching time as soon as they are registered. The sooner they are registered, the more choice of Microteaching time they will have.
